Methylprednisolone Rompharm 250mg, 500mg and 1000 mg powder and solvent for solution for injection
Sodium salt of the succinate ester of methylprednisolone, is a synthetic steroid with a potent anti-inflammatory action superior to that of prednisolone and a lower tendency to sodium and water retention.
Methylprednisolone sodium succinate has the same metabolism and anti-inflammatory action of methylprednisolone. Administered parenterally in equimolar amounts, the two molecules demonstrate an equivalent biological activity. The relative potency of methylprednisolone sodium succinate and of hydrocortisone sodium succinate, as demonstrated by the decrease in eosinophyl counts after intravenous administration, is four to one.
